A must-see movie release for support organisations – with blockbusting tips on marketing for the frontline…

The communications workstream has produced an informative and humorous film which addresses marketing as a third sector priority. The film gives practical advice and tips on the fundamentals of marketing and demystifies web 2.0 tools such as vodcasts, blogs and the use of social networking as essential tools to reach wider audiences.

Marketing is often overlooked by third sector organisations because it is seen as too expensive or an inappropriate use of funds. The film blows away that myth and highlights the fact that marketing is more than important – it’s essential if an organisation is to meet its objectives.

Using a mix of communications experts, real life case studies and humorous sketches, the film illustrates a variety of low cost marketing strategies essential for any organisation. Among the case studies is that of Borderline, a charity for homeless Scots in London, which came up with a way to use their annual report as a marketing tool, and Leonard Cheshire Disability, which created one of the most memorable marketing campaigns in recent years.

As well as offering practical advice and tips, the film is informative and entertaining and shows why organisations should make marketing a priority – a must-have resource for all support organisations when dealing with or offering practical marketing advice to frontline groups.

Media Trust, the workstream lead, will launch the film online at www.communitychannel.org and link up with the Improving Support website at www.improvingsupport.org.uk.
